Axel Merckx Foundation Business owner Ron Hayman is proud to play a role in the founding of the Axel Merckx Youth Development Foundation. This foundation (AMYDF) aims to play an integral role in developing the next generation of cycling to Canadas youth. It is structured as a not-for-profit initiative established in 2011 to help develop and steward the future of Canada´s young cyclists. The Foundation works with national and provincial organizations, such as the Canadian Cycling Association and Cycling BC, to enhance cycling skills through a variety of competitive events, development camps and coaching clinics. Penticton Wine Country Criterium set for August 19, 2011 Friday, August 19th the first Rideokanagan.com pb Norco "Wine Country Criterium" presented by Hayman Sport will roll out on the streets of downtown Penticton.The Wine Country Crit will take place on a fast, flat 1km course along Lake Okanagan, through downtown Penticton, starting and finishing right on Main Street. The first race is category "B" will take to the course at 6 pm for 30 mins plus 2 laps. Category "A" will start at 6:45 pm and race for 45 minutes plus 2 laps, and . Prize money will be awarded for the top 3 in each category, plus primes and draw prizes. Streets close at 5:30 with day of race sign on at Gyro Park (beside Penticton city hall) starting at 4:00 pm. Unlicensed riders with past racing experience may take out a one day competitor license. |

Ride Okanagan is a new Okanagan Valley based cycling team provides opportunities for regional cyclists to excel in road, cyclo-cross and mountain bike racing. Penticton will host the second annual Future Champions Cycling Camp from Aug 15th to 20th. Thirty of the brightest young road racing prospects from British Columbia and Western Canada will work closely with National and Provincial Coach Richard Wooles and his many guest speakers as they prepare to make the big step from domestic racing to the rough and tumble of European racing.
